Window Vacuums

1 products

Window vacuums clear water fast without dragging a cloth back over the glass. Most trades narrow the choice by battery life, tank size and how much weight you want to carry. A lighter handheld model suits quick jobs. A larger cordless unit is better for longer runs of glazing or repeated condensation work.

For the Trade

Start with the space you’ve got and how long the run is. That usually tells you if a compact unit will do or if you need more tank and battery life. For quick snagging, mirrors, shower screens and small panes, a lighter handheld window vac is easier to handle in tight spots. If you’re on longer glazing runs or repeated condensation work, a cordless window vacuum with better runtime saves stops, but it’s usually bulkier and slower to turn around. Tank size gets missed most. Once it’s full, you’re done until you empty it.

Types of Window Vacuums

Handheld window vacs suit the odd job and tight access. You can move them between panes, mirrors and screens without much faff.

A cordless window vacuum makes more sense when you’re covering more glass in one go. You’re not tied to a lead, but you do take on charging and battery management.

For small snagging, lighter window vacs are usually enough. If you’re doing repeated runs, the extra capacity is worth it.

Power Cleaning is where you’d compare them against the rest of the kit.

Selection Factors for Window Vacuums

Battery runtime and tank capacity are the first checks on window vacuums. They tell you whether the unit will handle a few panes or keep going through a larger run without stopping to empty and recharge.

A smaller handheld window vac suits odd jobs and tight access. It is easier to move around frames and into corners, but you give up runtime and tank size. A larger cordless window vacuum works better for repeated use, with fewer interruptions, though it will feel heavier in the hand. If the job is mainly condensation or shower screens, keep it simple. If you are also pricing up Carpet Cleaners or Floor Cleaning Machines, you are into a different sort of machine altogether.

Finish the Room

Once you’ve picked the right window vacuums, the next call is usually what’s left around the glass. On shower screens and tiled areas, the finish matters as much as the clean, so check the surrounding panels and wall finish before you sign it off.

If the job includes a lot of moisture control, look at the adjacent kit in power cleaning rather than treating it as a one-off buy. That is where the repeat work usually comes from. For bigger clean-downs, some firms will also pull in carpet cleaners or floor cleaning machines on the same visit, but only when the rest of the job justifies it.
