Radiator Foil

3 products

Radiator foil is the usual pick when you want a simple reflective layer behind a radiator, not a full insulation job. Sheets are quicker on repeat work and easier to trim to odd widths. Rolls suit longer runs, but they can be fiddlier if the wall is uneven. A thicker backing usually stays flatter, which matters if you don't want a bowed sheet coming back to you.

For the Trade

Start with the space behind the radiator and how much coverage you actually need, because that usually decides the product before anything else. In a tight recess or behind a cover, you want radiator foil that sits flat and does not fight the layout. On a longer run, a wider format can save you awkward joins and patching. For a quick retrofit, take the simplest option that covers the wall cleanly. If access is poor or the radiator sits close to the wall, the wrong format is the one that gets damaged or left short.

Types of Radiator Foil

The main choice is between plain radiator foil and a more rigid radiator reflector foil. Plain foil suits straightforward jobs where you want something easy to cut and fit behind standard Radiators. A stiffer radiator insulation foil works better where you want it to stay flatter and resist sagging.

Heat reflector foil and heat reflecting radiator foil are usually the same buying decision in different wording, so treat them as the same type unless the sheet format or backing changes the handling. Lighter foil is easier to work with. Firmer options tend to stay tidier once fitted.

Selection Factors for Radiator Foil

What usually decides it is the gap behind the radiator and how neat you need the finish to be. If the space is tight and you want it to sit flat, radiator foil sheets are the straightforward buy. For a longer run, a wider format usually means fewer joins and less time at the wall.

Go for stiffer radiator insulation foil where sagging would be an issue. You lose a bit of ease when you’re cutting round brackets and pipework. If the job includes a cover, check Radiator Covers at the same time. For fixing bits or trim details, Radiator Parts & Accessories is usually the next stop.

Finish the Room

Once the foil is chosen, the next call is usually what sits around the radiator rather than the radiator itself. If you need a neater finish or a boxed-in look, radiator covers are the obvious follow-on. Bear in mind they change access and can hold heat back a touch, so only spec them where the room allows it.

If you are finishing the install, radiator parts and accessories are the bits that stop you coming back for a missing valve, bracket or fixing. That is the sort of thing that gets noticed on site - not the foil, but the small parts you did not order with it.
