Floor Safety

10 products

Floor safety usually comes down to two things: where the slip risk is and how long the surface needs protection. For a dry walkway or a quick fix on a marked edge, anti slip floor tape is the neat option. For standing water, wash-down areas or heavier foot traffic, floor safety mats or anti slip floor mats usually make more sense because you get full contact underfoot rather than just a strip. Wet floor signs still have their place when the hazard is temporary, but they do not solve the grip issue.

For the Trade

Start with the space you’ve actually got and how it’s being used. That usually narrows it down fast. If you need coverage over a wider area, floor safety mats or anti slip floor mats make more sense than tape. They take repeated footfall and are easier to lift or replace. For a smaller hazard or a defined route, anti slip floor tape is the neater call. It only works if the surface is sound and kept clean. Wet floor signs still matter when the risk is temporary. They warn people, but they do not replace grip where people keep walking.

Floor Safety Options Compared

The first call is usually between a surface fix and a warning. Floor safety mats and anti slip floor mats suit areas where people stand or cross the same patch all day. They give you underfoot coverage and last better than tape.

Anti slip floor tape or anti slip floor marking tape works on edges, steps and narrow hazards. You only treat a strip, not the whole area. Wet floor signs still earn their keep for temporary risks, but they only warn - they do not change the surface. If you’re buying through Safety, that is the split to make first.

Choosing Materials and Size

For floor safety, the first call is how permanent the hazard is and how much of the floor you need to cover. Tape suits a defined edge or a narrow run when you want a clear grip line without changing the whole floor. It needs a sound, clean base, or it will lift and come back to you.

Mats make more sense where the problem sits at a standing point or a patch that sees repeated traffic. The trade-off is size, movement and cleaning. If the job also needs warning or identification, Asset Tags sit alongside the floor product. Where the spec is about fire routes or protected areas, Fire Safety is the other check before you buy.

Completing the Setup

Once you’ve picked the floor safety product, the next question is what the area needs around it.

If you need a clear warning as well as grip, wet floor signs are the usual add-on. Where the hazard runs over a longer stretch, anti slip floor marking tape keeps the warning in place without crowding the area with signs.

On a busier site, the surrounding safety signs help keep the message consistent. The common miss is buying the grip product and leaving the rest of the area unmarked. That is when people still walk straight into trouble.
