Lawn seed and treatments come down to what the turf needs right now. Bare ground calls for grass seed. A thin or tired lawn usually needs lawn feed or lawn fertiliser. If weeds or moss are the problem, weed and feed or lawn moss killer is the better fit.

Start with the space you’ve got and how the turf will be used, then the rest of the choice gets easier. A small repair usually needs seed that settles quickly and blends with the existing lawn. Bigger areas can justify a tougher mix that takes longer, but holds up better once it’s in. With lawn seed and treatments, the main call is whether you need to build, feed, or correct the surface first. A lot of call-backs come from using a general-purpose product where the job needed a more specific lawn fertiliser or lawn moss killer.
The first split is simple: lawn seed builds or repairs turf. Lawn feed and lawn fertiliser push existing grass on when the sward is thin, pale or slow.
If you need weed or moss knockdown as well, a lawn treatment or weed and feed saves a separate pass. You give up some control compared with using a dedicated lawn moss killer first and feeding after.
That is the trade-off. Seed changes the surface. Feed and fertiliser keep established turf moving.
Thin turf needs seed. Established grass that looks tired needs lawn feed or lawn fertiliser. If weeds or moss are part of the job, choose a treatment that handles that too.
A combined weed and feed saves a pass, but it’s a compromise if the lawn needs a stronger feed or a more targeted treatment. Seed-only mixes give you more control on repair work. For soil improvement or top dressing, Compost is the usual add-on. If you’re clearing up after the cut, Garden Bags are often next on the list.
Once you’ve picked the right lawn seed and treatments, the next call is usually what else you need on site. If you’re bringing in fresh material, compost and top soil are the usual follow-on buys. They affect how much dressing you need and how well the seed beds in.
For tidy-up work, garden bags and garden incinerators matter more than most people expect. The mess slows the job down, not the seed itself. Where you’re finishing edges or holding new growth in place, plant and tree ties and the right spreader can save a second trip and keep the work consistent.
