Tradekart Partner Marketing Data Sharing Policy

What this policy covers

When you register with Tradekart, you're given the option, via a tick box in the registration form to agree to your details being shared with selected partner organisations for their own direct marketing purposes. This page sets out what data is shared, who it goes to, why, and how you can change your mind at any time.

This is separate from Tradekart's own marketing to you, and separate from our main Privacy Policy, which explains how we use your data generally. This policy only covers the optional partner-sharing consent.

What data we share

If you opt in to this during registration, we share:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number

We do not share any other information from your Tradekart profile (such as your activity on our platform, financial information, or any other account details) with marketing partners.

Who we share it with

We only share your details with partner organisations that supply products, services, training or support to people working in the trades and relevant to the trade registered on your Tradekart profile (for example, if you're registered as an electrician, plumber, builder, or similar). This includes partners such as:

  • Trade materials, tools and equipment suppliers
  • Plant and equipment hire companies
  • Trade training, certification and qualification providers
  • Trade insurance and trade finance providers
  • Trade publications and industry bodies

We do not share your details with partners outside the trade sector, or with partners unrelated to the trade registered on your profile.

What happens once your data is shared

Once we share your details with a partner under this consent, that partner becomes independently responsible for how they contact you and for complying with UK marketing law in their own right, including the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR. This means:

  • They must honour any opt-out or unsubscribe request you make directly to them.
  • They must not pass your details on to further third parties without their own lawful basis to do so.
  • They are responsible for their own privacy notice explaining how they'll use your data.

Tradekart carries out due diligence on partners before entering into a data-sharing relationship, but we are not responsible for a partner's individual marketing messages once your data has been lawfully shared with your consent.

Our legal basis

We rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR, and the consent requirements of PECR for electronic marketing) as the legal basis for this sharing. We do not share your data with marketing partners without this specific, separate consent, it is not bundled with your general registration or Tradekart's own marketing preferences.

Your rights

You can:

  • Withdraw your consent at any time. This is free, and as easy as giving it. To withdraw, go to Account Settings > Marketing Preferences and toggle off "Share my details with partners", or email support@tradekart.com with the subject "Withdraw partner marketing consent". Withdrawing stops us sharing your data with new partners going forward. However, withdrawal doesn't retroactively make sharing that already took place unlawful, and you may still need to opt out separately with any partner who has already contacted you (see below).
  • Opt out directly with a partner. Any marketing message a partner sends you must include a way to opt out (e.g. an unsubscribe link, or contact details). Using this stops that specific partner contacting you, but doesn't affect your consent settings with Tradekart or other partners.
  • Request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your data, contact us at support@tradekart.com. Where a partner already holds and is processing your data as their own controller, you may also need to contact them directly for requests relating to their processing.
  • Object to your data being used for direct marketing at any time (Article 21 UK GDPR).
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled: ico.org.uk, or 0303 123 1113.

How long we keep this consent on record

How long your consent is valid for. We treat consent as current for up to 6 months from when it's given / refreshed, in line with ICO guidance on third-party marketing consent. After this point we will not treat it as live and either stop sharing your data with new partners on the strength of it, or ask you to reconfirm.

How long we keep the record that you gave (or withdrew) consent. We keep a record of consent for as long as you hold a Tradekart account, plus 10 years afterwards, so we can demonstrate compliance with UK GDPR's accountability requirements if asked by the ICO or in response to a complaint.
